Students at King Edward VI Handsworth School for Girls recently enjoyed an enriching and uplifting Careers Day, gaining meaningful insight from professionals representing a diverse range of industries. The event was designed to spark ambition, build confidence, and help students understand the many pathways available to them as they begin to consider their future aspirations.
Throughout the day, students heard from speakers working across sectors including Medicine, the Built Environment, Finance, Construction, the Public Sector, Law and the Creative Arts. Each professional shared their unique career journey, offering honest reflections on the challenges they’ve faced, the skills that have supported their success, and the opportunities young people can access in an ever changing world of work. Their stories not only broadened students’ understanding of different professions, but also reinforced the importance of resilience, curiosity and self belief.
The atmosphere across the event was one of enthusiasm and engagement. Students participated in thoughtful discussions, asked insightful questions and demonstrated a real eagerness to learn more about the possibilities open to them. The combination of inspiring presentations and active student participation created a powerful learning experience - one that encouraged students to reflect on their strengths, consider new ambitions and imagine futures they may not previously have thought possible.
A heartfelt thank you goes to all the speakers for their time, generosity and inspiration. Their contributions made the day truly impactful, and their willingness to share their experiences has left a lasting impression on the students who attended.
