It was a busy summer over at King Edward VI Lordswood School for Girls as significant improvements were carried out throughout the school.
To start, a new kitchen has now been installed and is fully operational. Not only has this helped with overall operations in the kitchen, but has also increased the school's seating capacity in the canteen, which will positively benefit the students and parents too. Additionally, a new till system has been incorporated, increasing efficiency in the canteen by speeding up the payments process during lunch and breaktime. This aims to reduce queuing time for students.
To help update and improve the IT infrastructure in the school, the devices in 4 computer rooms have been replaced. This means that all the computers in the school now run on Windows 11, which will not only improve the students and teachers' user experience, but is also a vital part of the school's migration to Microsoft, which will be completed over the coming months.
Further more, new carpets have been installed in several of the Maths and RE rooms, along with new flooring on the top corridor. The rendering on the back of the school has been refreshed, which will improve the overall insulation of the school, particularly as we head into winter. Based on student feedback, the school has invested in some new seating areas in the playgrounds, which has made the outside space more enjoyable for all.
To top it all off, the final update took place in June before school finished for the summer holidays, with the arrival of the brand-new minibus! Thanks to a brilliant and collaborative effort, students, families, staff and the wider community all came together to raise the funds needed to achieve this milestone. This new minibus will not only open up a world of possibilities for the school, but it will also provide greater flexibility for any school trips, sporting fixtures and a wide range of other off-site activities, particularly benefitting the PE department, whist serving the entire school community by enhancing the experiences of the students across all year groups.
