EDI Steering Group Kicks Off the Academic Year with Renewed Energy

The newly reformed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Steering Group, which now combines the EDI Committee and School EDI Leads groups, held its first meeting of the academic year. This merger aims to enhance communication, streamline decision-making, and drive more effective action across our initiatives.

The meeting provided a fantastic opportunity to welcome new members, including Simon Foster from King Edward VI Handsworth School for Girls, Martin Feeney from King Edward VI Five Ways School, and Jo Parmar from King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Boys. The collective enthusiasm and fresh perspectives of both new and existing members set a positive tone for the year ahead.

Reflecting on last year’s achievements, the group recognised many successes, including the implementation of EDI training at the Foundation Office and in several schools, with more to follow. Additionally, the next EDI Staff and Governors survey is being finalised and will be rolled out before Christmas, with completion scheduled for the Foundation-wide conference in January 2025. However, the group acknowledges there is still much more to do to achieve our goals.

Committed to fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment, the EDI Steering Group is eager to tackle the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. With a renewed structure and a shared vision, the EDI Steering Group is poised to make significant strides in promoting EDI throughout our community. Stay tuned for updates on our progress and upcoming initiatives!
