On the Friday of the half term break, four talented Year 10 students from King Edward VI Handsworth School for Girls represented the school at the national finals of the English-Speaking Union (ESU) Public Speaking Competition, held at the prestigious Dartmouth House in Mayfair.
With over 350 schools entering, this is the UK’s largest and most prestigious public speaking competition. KEVIHS made it into the final 12 schools competing on the day, an achievement in itself. Even more impressively, Tamoy, Noor, Hilary, and Kimberly delivered such strong performances that they advanced to the Grand Final in the afternoon, placing them among the top six schools in the country.
Although the overall winners were Torquay Girls’ Grammar School, our students gave an outstanding performance, with special recognition for Tamoy, who was named Best Speaker of the entire competition.
In recognition of this exceptional achievement, Tamoy has been invited to represent England and Wales as a speaker in the International ESU Public Speaking Competition next year.
A huge congratulations to the whole team for their hard work, confidence, and eloquence.
