King Edward VI Handsworth Wood Girls’ Academy re-accredited as World Class School through the High Performance Learning Framework

We are delighted to share the news that King Edward VI Handsworth Wood Girls’ Academy has once again been officially re-accredited as a World Class School through the High Performance Learning (HPL) framework, an internationally recognised approach to nurturing high achievement for every student.

Following a rigorous assessment process, the academy was described as “an exceptional school that others can look to for inspiration.” The re-accreditation recognises the academy’s sustained commitment to embedding a culture of excellence and ambition throughout all aspects of school life.

What makes this recognition particularly significant is how deeply the HPL philosophy is woven into the fabric of the school. From teaching and learning to pastoral care, SEND provision and safeguarding, high performance is truly a shared endeavour. The assessor praised not only the clarity of vision from senior leaders but also the passion and professionalism of staff at every level.

Most striking of all were the students. The report highlighted their confidence, resilience, and strong belief in their own potential, key attributes that reflect the school’s empowering ethos.

As a High Performance Learning International Research School, HWGA is helping to shape the future of education, sharing best practice and influencing learning beyond its own community.

This re-accreditation is more than a badge of honour. It is a celebration of culture and consistency. We are immensely proud of the academy's achievement and of its contribution to the wider work and values of the King Edward VI Foundation.
