Last week, KEHS came alive with colour and creativity as we celebrated our annual ArtsFest, a joyful week dedicated to the arts in all their forms. Across the school, lessons were infused with artistic flair: from French art in the Thirds to mosaics in Classics, Chinese music in Mandarin, digital art in Computing, and performance workshops in Drama and PSHE.
Pupils also took part in a vibrant programme of extracurricular workshops. In Biology, students crafted penguins, foxes, and mushrooms from clay while watching a French film on life cycles. Dr Harjinder Singh Lallie led a powerful Sikh sacred music workshop, introducing pupils to traditional instruments and cultural expression through sound.
On Friday, Steel Pan workshops brought Caribbean rhythms into school life, with pupils performing upbeat pieces like Hill & Gully Rider and Camptown Races. Pupils described it as “inclusive, fun, and empowering.”
The week concluded with a spectacular ‘Waltzing Around the World’ showcase, featuring live music and dance inspired by Latin America, China, India and Europe. Highlights included a tango by Matilda and Nadia, a Chinese fan dance by Liya, and a beautiful interpretation of Dvořák’s Serenade for Strings by Shalu.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Miss Stewart, whose coordination of the week was instrumental, and to Miss Curtis for capturing the celebrations on camera. Thanks also to all staff who brought the arts into their classrooms and made ArtsFest 2025 such a memorable celebration of creativity and culture at KEHS.
