As we draw nearer to welcoming Balaam Wood School into our growing Academy Trust, The Schools of King Edward VI invited students from the school to our Foundation Office in Edgbaston. The group were encouraged to ask questions directly to Executive Director, Heath Monk, as well as other members of Foundation Office staff, regarding academisation and what it means for them.
The students are currently acting as the Balaam Wood Academy Representatives and, prior to the visit, worked with their peers to compile a comprehensive list of interesting and well thought out questions. The answers would then be fed back to other students at the school.
Collaborating with our current King Edward VI schools was a common theme, as the pupils are eager to know what kind of new experiences they can have and groups they can join within the Academy Trust. Being situated so near to King Edward VI Five Ways, the two schools have already made some great working relationships and are keen to continue this in the future.
Heath Monk comments “It was a pleasure to meet the student representatives from Balaam Wood. They are clearly enthusiastic about being involved in the process of joining the King Edward VI family. They are passionate about their school and their local community and what they can bring to the Academy Trust, as well as wanting to find out about what opportunities they access as a result. We are very much looking forward to welcoming Balaam Wood Academy in September.”
