Foundation Leaders in Education & Subject Network Leads Update

As part of the educational development work in the Foundation, I have had the privilege over recent weeks, with Nicky Walters (Consultant Headteacher) to meet and interview over 20 candidates for the advertised Foundation Leaders in Education (FLEs) and Subject Network Lead roles.

It was inspiring to meet such talented, dedicated professionals whose passion for their subjects, areas of specialisms and teaching and learning along with the mission of the Foundation was clear. This is another example of how we are working to further develop internal and external CPD opportunities for our staff.

Following these interviews, I am delighted to say that we have made appointments in the following areas:

Foundation Leaders in Education – Safeguarding, SEND, More Able (Students) and More Able (Pedagogy).

Foundation Leaders in Education to support Balaam Wood Academy – Chemistry, DT and Biology.

Subject Network Leads – Maths, English, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and PSHCE.

In the weeks leading up to Christmas, more information will be shared with schools about how to join the subject network groups under their new leadership and schools will also start to engage with the strategic and operational expertise offered by the Foundation Leaders in Education.

It is exciting to be able to develop our conversation about teaching and learning. Early in the New Year we will start to recruit to some additional FLE and SNLs roles to continue to support the development of our schools and contribute to our mission to make Birmingham the best place to be educated in the UK.
