The King Edward VI Foundation is looking to start an LGBTQIA+ Networking and Allies group to provide a forum for people who are part of the LGBTQIA + community, or for anyone outside of the community who would like to get involved and provide support.
A key element of our equality, diversity and inclusion strategy is our intention to create a network and a group of allies who can provide support and help to promote an inclusive working environment. We recognise that feedback in our survey highlighted that members of this community may need more support.
Therefore, the purpose of this group will be to encourage staff from across the Foundation to come together to discuss LGBTQIA+ equality in our working environment to see how we can support each other to make a difference.
The LGBTQIA+ Networking and Allies Group is inclusive of all staff regardless of background and encourages all those who would like to be involved to come along and find out more.
The aim of this group will ultimately be decided by the group; however, the intention is to:
- provide peer to peer support and networking opportunities for school-based staff.
- help to raise awareness and promote better understanding of LGBTQIA+ and inclusion and make LGBTQIA+ experiences more visible in the organisation.
- contribute ideas and suggestions for ways the organisation can be more diverse and inclusive, and;
- identify allies who can provide support to staff in the workplace.
The first group meeting will be held on Thursday 18th May 2023 at King Edward VI Foundation Office.

We look forward to welcoming you and seeing you there.
