  • A vision of inclusive and transformative education.
  • Substantial experience of strategic leadership in a comprehensive school.
  • The people skills to retain and support our stable staff team.
  • A proven ability to develop our strategy to support our most disadvantaged learners.
  • An ability to develop and maintain strong, supportive relationships with sometimes ‘hard-to-reach’ families, dealing with concerns calmly and systematically.

  • A familiarity with the OFSTED toolkit and its implications for schools serving areas with high economic disadvantage.
  • An openness to working with the Academy Trust and other external sources of challenge and support to continue to develop the school.
  • A determination to work with the wider Academy Trust, to support the development of the Trust and contribute to strategies developed within the Trust.

As an integral member of the King Edward VI Academy Trust and the wider King Edward VI Foundation, the successful appointee will fully embrace collaborative working across the Foundation, contributing to fulfilling our mission of making Birmingham the best place to be educated in the UK.
