Camp Hill Boys Maths Teacher helps Warwickshire Senior Cricketers reach National Knockout Finals

Mohammed Azam, Maths Teacher at King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Boys, was selected this year to play for the Warwickshire Senior Cricket Team. With his help they not only won the league but qualified to play in the National Knockout competition.

Mohammed has been playing cricket for the last 40 years but for the first time, this year he was selected to play for the Warwickshire Senior Team - created to provide opportunities for Senior players to represent the County in both competitive and friendly fixtures.

Previously, the team has never won more than a quarter of their games in a season; this season however, Mohammed has helped the team win the league and qualify to play in the National Knockout competition, beating Lancashire in the semi-final. This is a first as Lancashire are the top team in England and always reach the final.

During the final, against Kent on the 14th September, Mohammed scored 47 runs and took two wickets, but unfortunately the title went to Kent with them winning in the last over.

All is not lost though, as there is a good possibility that Mohammed will be called for trials for England in April 2022. If selected, Mohammed will be playing for England in the inaugural World Cup in October 2022, held in Australia.

Mohammed comments: "The above is not for me glory or ego, but to show staff and pupils what can be achieved in life if we keep trying. I hope to inspire someone to extend themselves to even higher success".
