Deb’s doing it again!

Deborah Canton, Assistant Company Secretary, has been pounding the pavements again in her latest charity run. This time however, things have been a little different due to COVID-19 restrictions and so Deborah has embarked on the Lands End to John O' Groats Virtual challenge, set by End to End.run. The event challenges people to run or walk the length of the UK - 874 miles - in 12 months, which is the distance from Lands End in Cornwall all the way to John O Groats in the north of Scotland. Throughout the journey those taking part receive digital postcards containing interesting information and landmarks whilst also detailing where they would be if they were physically running the route. Some may remember 2019 when Deborah embarked on the Edinburgh marathon in aid of Dementia UK. "I love to run and felt really upset that all races in 2020 were cancelled due to the pandemic. My Mum was also sadly diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer last year and so when I saw the challenge advertised I thought it was a perfect way to raise money and awareness of bowel cancer, whilst also doing what I love in running. I started the event on 23rd November 2020 and, although it officially ends on 22nd November 2021, I aim to complete it as quickly as possible." Bowel Cancer UK is the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity, funding targeted research, providing expert information and support to patients and their families, as well as educating the public and professionals about the disease, campaigning for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care. If you would like to show support towards Deborah's challenge whilst simultaneously helping Bowel Cancer UK you can donate using her Just Giving page.
