This summer saw the exciting conclusion of a three-year journey to transform the sporting facilities at King Edward Sheldon Heath Academy — and the results are already making a huge impact.
Since the project began in August 2022, the Academy has invested in creating first-class facilities for students and the wider community. Highlights include a brand-new, full-size FIFA-approved 3G pitch, the conversion of an existing pitch into an FA-approved 7v7 3G surface, and extensive upgrades to grass pitches. Most recently, the Academy celebrated the completion of a full refurbishment of its netball and tennis courts, giving students and community groups access to modern, high-quality playing spaces.
Delivered in partnership with sports pitch specialists Surfacing Standards Limited (SSL), and with the expertise of EB Sports, Blakedown Sports, and Hunts Contractors, every project has been completed on time and within budget — a fantastic achievement for all involved.
Students are already enjoying the benefits of these cutting-edge facilities during PE lessons, training sessions, and extracurricular clubs. Beyond the school day, the Academy continues to open its doors to local community groups, ensuring that these outstanding resources are available to inspire health, fitness, and sporting talent across the area.
This ambitious investment reflects the Academy Trust’s commitment to providing state-of-the-art environments where every student can thrive — both in sport and in the wider curriculum. The future of sport at KESH Academy has never looked brighter!
