Inspired by Black History Month, Mr Cave, Science Teacher at King Edward VI Sheldon Heath Academy has taken the opportunity to compile a recipe book, full of his favourite Caribbean recipes.
Many of the recipes originate from his mother, who hailed from Jamaica and instilled a passion for food into her son. Mr Clarke introduces the recipes by saying "Growing up in a Caribbean household was very interesting. I have chosen to focus on food as it is something that crosses cultural borders. Food and drink play a significant role in the Black culture. It enriches our cultural identity and it is a catalyst for connection within communities."
This is a fantastic way of sharing Black culture and bringing people together. If you feel like experimenting and injecting some Caribbean flavour into the kitchen, then take a look through the various traditional recipes including Ackee and Salt Fish, Jerk Chicken, Saturday Soup and many more.
