At the King Edward VI Foundation, we are proud to see our schools living out our core values of care and collaboration in meaningful ways. A recent generous donation from King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Boys to SOS Kit Aid exemplifies how, together, we can make a positive global impact.
SOS Kit Aid, supported by World Rugby, is a charity that has been collecting and distributing second-hand and unused rugby kit to disadvantaged youngsters around the world for over 20 years. To date, the charity has helped over a quarter of a million young people across more than 70 countries, providing them with the equipment they need to experience the many benefits of sport — including healthy lifestyles, life skills, and friendship. In addition to supporting youth rugby, SOS Kit Aid plays a crucial role in protecting the environment by recycling unwanted kit, helping to reduce waste and lower CO2 emissions. Their efforts have earned them three prestigious environmental awards.
Camp Hill Boys recently contributed five boxes of rugby kit to SOS Kit Aid, marking a significant contribution to this global effort. As the first school within the Foundation to donate during the current collection period, their donation will be distributed to young people across the world, helping them access the equipment necessary to enjoy and grow through sport. Mark Newton, the SOS Kit Aid Area Manager for the West Midlands, expressed his gratitude for this generous gesture, praising the school for their commitment to making a difference.
This donation is a powerful example of our Foundation’s shared values at work: care for others and collaboration to bring about positive change. By donating clean, gently used, or unused rugby kit — from jerseys and shorts to boots and rugby balls — we can all contribute to this important cause, ensuring that more young people can enjoy the transformative power of sport.
SOS Kit Aid’s work is not just about the physical kit; it’s about providing opportunities for young people to develop key life skills, form friendships, and lead healthier lives. The King Edward VI Foundation has always been dedicated to fostering well-rounded individuals, and supporting initiatives like SOS Kit Aid is just one of the many ways we can extend that commitment beyond our own school communities.
We encourage all schools and members of our Foundation to consider donating their old or unused rugby kit to SOS Kit Aid. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, helps make a lasting impact on the lives of young people around the world. It’s a fantastic way to promote our values of care and collaboration while also making a positive environmental impact. Visit SOS Kit Aid for more information on how to get involved.
