Update from Jodh – December

This autumn term has been defined as ever by a strong sense of progress across our Foundation. Welcoming new Year 7 pupils at our Foundation Ceremonies earlier in the term, I saw firsthand how our traditions can inspire pride and belonging, connecting students to our shared legacy.

Our academic results have been exceptional, with grades at A level, GCSE, IB and vocational qualifications well above national averages. These achievements reflect the dedication of our staff and students. Our new strategic framework, which we will be sharing soon, sets a clear direction for continued improvement.

We have continued to prioritise quality assurance and safeguarding, with thorough reviews and positive feedback. Our teams are now preparing for upcoming national changes to Ofsted, curriculum and SEND, ensuring we remain agile and ready for new educational standards.

Investing in people and technology has been central. The appointment of a new Director of Digital, improved systems, and wellbeing initiatives are strengthening our organisation. Innovation through AI and MIS groups is enhancing efficiency and security.

As the term ends, I think we can be proud of our collective efforts. I hope that you will all find time to rest and enjoy yourselves in a couple of weeks. As well as time with family, I am looking forward to continuing to get my French reading back to where it was, having embarked on some literature about the First World War from the French perspective. I can thoroughly recommend in the original or translation “Au revoir là-haut” by Pierre Lemaitre and “La Peur” by Gabriel Chevallier. They are reminders of why the Christmas messages of peace and goodwill are so important.

I look forward to coming together in January for our Foundation Conference but, in the meantime, wish you a good end of term and a happy Christmas break.
