Our people are at the heart of everything we do.
We pride ourselves in recruiting the best teaching and professional services staff to support excellence in our schools and a first-class pupil experience.
We are building a values-led culture that inspires our people to succeed. As a Foundation of many schools, our strength lies in our ability to innovate, share and develop collectively around a shared purpose.
Recognising and rewarding our staff
Here at the King Edward VI Foundation we offer both financial and non-financial benefits.
We offer opportunities for collaboration through subject and engagement groups. Each year we hold our Foundation Awards, an event dedicated to celebrating colleagues across the organisation for their hard work focussing around our values. Information from our 2025 ceremony can be found below.
Our Values
Our values and culture are vital to the successful delivery of the Foundation’s mission and strategy.
Reflecting our collective responsibility to excellent standards in a caring and accessible environment, our values underpin how we work daily to achieve our vision. The Foundation and it’s values also reflect our relationship with the city through our various partnerships and collaborative efforts across Birmingham.
Menopause Friendly Membership
As part of our commitment to staff wellbeing, the Foundation has joined the Menopause Friendly Membership. This marks the beginning of a Foundation-wide initiative to improve menopause awareness and support in the workplace.
We’ll be working towards Menopause Friendly Accreditation, demonstrating best practice across five key areas: culture, policies, training, engagement, and workplace environment. This initiative reflects our belief that supporting our people – through every stage of life – is central to who we are.
Parental Support Programmes for All Staff
The Foundation has recently partnered with the MTPT Project to offer free parental support programmes to all teaching and support staff, available during parental leave and throughout the first five years of returning to work.
These programmes are open to all parenting identities, including fathers and partners, and include: Parental Leave Group Coaching, Return to Work Workshops, and Sustain and Grow Group Coaching.

'Collaboration with other schools across the King Edward VI Foundation has opened up a range of valuable CPD opportunities, as well as the chance to meet and work with colleagues across the organisation. So often, discussing and working with colleagues in similar roles in other schools is the most impactful CPD, as it's the chance to share ideas and effective practice. Honest conversations about what's working and what isn't are powerful for helping to plan ideas and strategy in your own setting.'

Staff Charter
Our Staff Charter communicates to you the employee experience the Foundation aims to deliver.
Our Charter connects to our vision, values, culture, opportunities and the financial and non-financial benefits of working for the Foundation. It helps define how we will work with each other through our schools, clusters and central teams and collectively create an attractive, modern and enjoyable workplace that recognises the valuable contribution each one of you makes.
