The King Edward VI Foundation Birmingham celebrates as two of their schools achieve top place in their categories of the 'Sunday Times Schools of the Decade'.
King Edward's School has been named The Sunday Times Regional Independent Secondary School of the Decade and King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Boys the West Midlands State Secondary School of the Decade by Parent Power, The Sunday Times Schools Guide.
Nick Rodrigues, the deputy editor of Parent Power comments "Usually the top ranked state school in the West Midlands, King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Boys has been in the UK top 10 for five of the past 10 years. This consistent achievement and the breathtaking range of activities and opportunities available at Camp Hill are just two of the reasons why it wins our West Midlands State Secondary School of the Decade award. This is also a huge triumph for the King Edward VI Foundation with King Edward’s School winning the regional independent secondary school of the decade award. Our two accolades highlight the excellent education offering available to the multi-cultural and diverse population of Birmingham."
Dr Katy Ricks, Chief Master of King Edward’s School, said: “I am delighted that King Edward’s has won this most prestigious award. It is testament to the endeavour of the entire school community, past and present, that the school has achieved everything it has over the last decade."
King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Boys Headmaster, Martin Garrod said: "I'm delighted that the work of the staff, the boys and their parents has been recognised in this way. What makes me particularly proud is that this academic excellence has been achieved at the same time as all aspects of a rich curriculum have grown and flourished. The inspirational opportunities offered by outstanding staff have been seized upon by bright, engaged and enthusiastic pupils."
