Simulated phishing attack and the need for training

A simulated phishing email from a fictitious character “Daniel Foster” was sent on Monday 8th February to all staff and governors. The email appeared to be sent from the Foundation Office and encouraged recipients to click on an embedded link and provide their log in credentials.

Out of 1699 recipients, 18% clicked the link in the email with 8% entering their log in credentials on the phishing website.

If this was a real cyber-attack, the above level of engagement would have compromised our data and users and incurred reputation and financial loss.

The intention of this simulated attack was to raise awareness of cyber crime and how it can impact us.

In the coming days, every recipient will be sent details to an online training resource which will help us identify the main signs of phishing emails and how to avoid engagement.

Please study the content and complete the assessments as needed.
