Receiving awards this year for completing 25 years of service are the following:
Elizabeth Davis - King Edward VI Balaam Wood Academy
Elizabeth (Liz) Davis is currently the Deputy Head responsible for Curriculum Quality, having been first appointed to the school as a newly qualified teacher is 1996, before becoming a Faculty Head and her current role. Damian McGarvey, Headteacher at the school describes her as an embodiment of the school and its community.
Dawn Sherrington - King Edward VI Balaam Wood Academy
Dawn Sherrington is a key member of the associate staff supporting children with special educational needs. Her effectiveness in the role is supported by her being from the local community and provides an important voice for the community in the school.
Andrew Taylor - King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Boys
Andrew Taylor joined Camp Hill Boys' in 1994 after completing his doctorate and PGCE. He is passionate about the subject, inspiring many students to study Chemistry at university and the school often being successful in UK International Olympiad. His commitment to the subject continues alongside his responsibilities as a member of the school’s Senior Leadership team. Outside the classroom he is a passionate follower of cricket and is also an outstanding chef.
Mark Duncan - King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Boys
Mark Duncan was appointed Head of PE and Games 25 years ago, teaching English alongside those responsibilities. An innovator, he produced termly videos summarising each term’s House competitions and a House Festival every five years.
Carolyn Buckroyd - King Edward VI Sheldon Heath Academy
Carolyn has been such a long serving member of staff, often parents and families remember Mrs Buckroyd teaching them! The end of term camp would not have been the same without her - she cooked each day for all the students camping. As well as still being a full time PE teacher, she also oversees the medical needs of students across the academy.
Lynette Evans - King Edward VI Sheldon Heath Academy
Lynette joined Sheldon Heath School in 1995 as maternity cover for the school receptionist. She then joined the general office team for a time, moved onto Student Services and then became House Administrator. 26 years later she is still working hard to support the year groups as part of the pastoral administrative team.
Robin Deeley - King Edward's School
Robin Deeley is much-appreciated and respected by boys - a patient, sympathetic and very able maths teacher. Earlier in his career he was a stalwart of school rugby running the U13B XV for many years.
Carolyn While - King Edward's School
Carolyn plays a crucial role and is central to ‘everything IT’. She is not only an expert in the area but is patient and tolerant of those who are less savvy. She is also much involved in the wider life of the school, involved in Common Room activities as well as skiing and sailing.
Sarah Shore-Nye - King Edward VI High School for Girls
Sarah joined the school as a teacher of English and has continued in that role while also taking on other roles. In her time with us, she has been Head of General Studies, Deputy Head of English, Acting Head of Year and Head of the Lower School. She is currently Vice-Principal, Pastoral.
