Director of Education Appointment

Julie Waddington will be joining the Foundation Office team as Director of Education on Monday 4th April 2022.

Julie has 15 years’ school improvement experience in a number of in-school and cross-school leadership roles. She joined the selective Fast Track teacher training route and then the Advanced Skills Teacher programme as preparation for her current Multi Academy Trust (MAT) role as Director of School Improvement (9 schools & 1000 staff).

Julie has worked with schools in special measures, moving two out of a category by focussing on teaching and learning, and is passionate about pastoral education as well as research informed pedagogy. Her current MAT comprises both selective and comprehensive schools and she has worked across a consortium and in a Local Authority (Sandwell - 16 schools).

Born and raised in Birmingham, Julie has always considered the Foundation as the pinnacle of achievement and a driver of social mobility.

In this new role, Julie will be responsible for the development and implementation of a shared vision for school improvement across the Academy Trust, aiding the acceleration of school improvement in our weaker schools and enhancing ongoing school improvement in our stronger schools. Julie will be working closely with Dr Katy Ricks as Headmaster of the Foundation, with the wider Foundation Education Group and with Jodh Dhesi to devise and deliver educational strategy.

Amy Whittall will be continuing her excellent work as Interim Director of Educational Development until the end of the academic year.
