The single central Microsoft platform (a.k.a. the single central enterprise platform or SCEP) is the first of many projects that form the Foundation's Digital Unification Programme.
Microsoft was selected as the Foundation's single central enterprise platform (SCEP) after a group of headteacher appointed representatives from each school participated in the gathering of requirements (incl. teaching and learning, technical and communication & collaboration), joined demonstrations by Google and Microsoft and scored each platform. It is imperative that we get the best from the Microsoft suite and share our best practice so that our teaching and communications continue to improve within school and across the Foundation.
The first stage - "proof of concept (POC)" - saw King Edward VI Five Ways School, King Edward VI High School for Girls and the central Foundation Office migrate to the newly built single central Microsoft platform. We would like to thank everyone at these two schools and the Foundation Office for their huge efforts in taking part in the recent POC. Using the lessons from it, the Microsoft Implementation Framework was refined and shared with the remaining schools for feedback.
The Foundation is currently assessing whether its schools meet the DfE's digital and technology standards for schools. The results of the survey will be a key factor in determining the order in which the Foundation schools will be prepared for migration to Microsoft.
The flow chart below summarises the background of the Digital Unification Programme, and the Single Central Enterprise Platform (SCEP) as the first project of the programme.
