Describe a ‘typical day’ at work:
No two days are ever quite the same, which is part of what I love about the role! I split my time between two main areas: front-of-house and communications. At reception, I’m the first point of contact for visitors and callers, handling enquiries, welcoming guests, and supporting meetings with room setups and hospitality. Behind the scenes, I also manage the Foundation’s social media channels and help curate content for our newsletters and website. I enjoy collaborating with colleagues across our schools to highlight achievements, events, and initiatives, and I’m also involved in updating and maintaining the Foundation’s intranet. Balancing these two sides of the role keeps me busy and engaged throughout the day.
What do you find most rewarding about your job?
I really enjoy shining a light on the fantastic work going on across the Foundation and knowing that I play a part in helping people feel welcome and informed—whether they’re visiting us in person or connecting with us online.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced in your role and how did you overcome it?
One challenge has been managing multiple priorities during especially busy periods. I’ve learned to stay organised, communicate clearly with colleagues, and remain calm under pressure—skills that have become second nature over time.
How have you developed since taking on this role?
I’ve gained confidence in communicating with a wide range of people and developed stronger digital skills through managing our communications channels. I’ve also improved my ability to multitask and adapt quickly.
What is something interesting or surprising about you that most people don’t know?
My undergraduate degree is in Theology and Religion, and in my spare time, I continue to write and present academic papers on Mormonism.
What is one important lesson or piece of advice you would give to your younger self?
Don’t underestimate the value of seemingly small experiences, they often shape the most important skills and opportunities later on.
