We are delighted to be in a position to host a Free CPD course for Birmingham based D&T teachers - Practical approaches to teaching design and technology theory. Lead by Julie and Paul Boyd of Boyd Education.
This will run over two days on the 14th and 15th of July from 10am - 4pm at King Edward VI Handsworth School, B21 9AR (the second day is likely to run at a slightly earlier time).
Designed to increase your confidence in teaching new or unfamiliar Design and Technology theory, this two day course will help you to develop practical approaches for delivering the theory content in key stage 3 and core GCSE design and technology curriculum. This course will support the teaching of all GCSE awarding bodies and material specialisms. The majority of taught content will focus on activities that can be carried out in a non-specialist room supporting practical approaches without the need for traditional machinery. The course involves a hands-on experience of materials, developing your confidence in processes that might be outside of your traditional specialism and exploring the properties and uses of a range of materials.
Participants will need to bring in their own lunch for the day.
