Congratulations to Fazle Kinkhabwala, Chair of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, for being awarded the British Empire Medal in the Queen's Birthday Honours.
Fazle has been awarded for his ongoing work and commitment to his local community – for his charity work in raising funds for ‘Who is Hussain Food Drive’ and ‘Clifton Road Foodbank’, his work as Senior Careers Officer for Race equality at Caldmore, Pleck and Palfry in Walsall, in raising aspirations for Bengali girls in particular, as well as for his role as governor of the Schools of King Edward VI and Director of the Academy Trust in helping them progress the EDI policy and practice in the Schools and Foundation Office.
Fazle comments: "I am delighted and honoured to receive a BEM in recognition of my charity work and supporting the South Asian and other minority communities to understand the benefits of a grammar school education.
“The award is dedicated to the multitude of talented and committed volunteers I have had the pleasure to work with over the years. I hope I can continue to make a positive impact for local people in the West Midlands and beyond.
“Special thanks to the one who made the time to nominate me and singled me out from the world full of volunteers.”
