As we begin second half of the Autumn term, it gives me great pleasure to say that King Edward’s Consortium (KEC) is among the initial teacher training (ITT) providers which gained accreditation recently from the Department for Education.
This means that KEC will continue to offer initial teacher training from 2024/25 onwards. This is a significant achievement, particularly as according to the Universities Council for the Education of Teachers (UCET) only two-thirds of providers previously operating are now accredited. KEC was rated number one of all School-Centred ITT providers in the country in the Good Teacher Training Guide 2017 and is a well-established group of 22 excellent schools in the Birmingham area, based in and led by King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Girls.
Credit is due to Annie Gouldsworthy, Director of KEC, for the success of the reaccreditation.
For anyone considering a career in teaching, or who knows someone who is, KEC is an excellent choice: https://www.teachkec.org.uk/
Last month saw the first phase of the move towards a Single Central Enterprise Platform as part of the Foundation’s digital unification strategy. Users at King Edward VI Five Ways School, King Edward VI High School for Girls and the Foundation Office have all migrated onto a new, central Microsoft tenancy as the “proof of concept”. Based on what has gone well and areas which were more challenging, the team leading the change will be planning next steps, which will involve discussion with the SCEP Action Group, consisting of representatives from all of the Foundation’s schools.
We have also been implementing our new governance approach, which includes a range of advisory groups bringing together governors, trustees and others from both the Academy Trust and Foundation Charity for a more joined up way of working. One key body is the Staff Engagement Advisory Group. Made up of staff representatives from across our schools and the Foundation Office and chaired by a senior governor, the purpose of the group is to provide a forum for regular, meaningful communication and consultation on relevant people matters. All colleagues are encouraged to speak to their representatives in order to contribute to this important group.
