King Edward VI Balaam Wood Academy are delighted to announce the re-opening of their School Library and Home Learning Club.
Reading and home learning are valued strands of school life and essential to extend learning and embedding skills practiced in school - learning doesn’t stop at the end of the school day! Sometimes the home environment can be busy and distracting; Home Learning Club, situated in the library allows pupils to access a quiet space equipped with computers and with staff on hand to assist if required.
King Edward VI Balaam Wood Academy pupils will be able to access the Home Learning Club by checking the timetable where their year group will be listed. After acquiring a note from a parent/carer to allow them to stay after school they are free to use the hub's facilities. Mrs Turrell, Teacher of English at the school comments: "Our school library has undergone an extensive period of expansion and upgrading, and while the Library has been available to pupils via the online reservation system, this will be the first time that we have been able to offer pupils the opportunity to come and browse our fantastic selection of fiction and non-fiction books. We are overjoyed to be able to invite pupils back into our bright, happy and well-stocked Library. Pupils can spend time choosing their books or relaxing in our brand-new secluded beanbag reading area".
