After ten very successful years as Head at Camp Hill Girls, Linda Johnson has announced her retirement from the post at the end of August 2022.
Previously Deputy Headteacher from January 2003 and, before that, Head of History, Linda has demonstrated to the highest standards the full range of qualities expected in a teacher and a school leader. As a history teacher, she was passionate, innovative and effective in her teaching and she anticipates being involved in a trip to the USA, much delayed owing to Covid-19.
To the role of a school leader, as a consummate professional she has also brought the same qualities and commitment. With the ability to communicate with everyone, the students recognise her as both friend and authority, the teachers as a supporter and leader, governors as a clear and articulate adviser, and senior staff in other schools as a source of wisdom and guidance. These qualities have been evident across the multiple roles of headship: team leadership within the school; changes arising from the creation of the Academy Trust; leadership of the King Edward’s Consortium; fundraising for the 6th form block; reviewing strategy for 6th form provision in the Trust; and, above all, inspiring her colleagues to provide the best possible learning opportunities for a generation of girls.
The recently announced Ofsted inspection judgment that the school is ‘Outstanding’ provides further evidence of the school’s qualities and achievements, as well as being a most suitable way to recognise Linda’s leadership of the school.
