Philosothon – Friday 10th February 2023

All Foundation schools are warmly invited to enter a team of students to participate in the 2022/23 Philosothon taking place after school at King Edward VI High School for Girls (KEHS) on Friday 10th February 2023.

Last year's successful event saw teams from across the Foundation take part.

The aim of a Philosothon is to promote philosophical enquiry and rigour by bringing students from Years 9-13 together around stimulus material, allowing them to move beyond discussion towards critical inquiry. There is no expectation that students have already studied Philosophy or Ethics.

The event, which is being jointly organised by KEHS and King Edward’s School (KES), will run from 4pm until approximately 6.30pm.

Schools are invited to put together a team of 11 students – consisting of two students from each of Years 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13, plus a reserve student from any of these year groups. Schools without Sixth Forms are also able to take part.

Further details can be found in the invitation letter. Please contact Dr Rachael Jackson-Royal at King Edward VI High School for Girls ([email protected]) or Paul Moore-Bridger at King Edward's School ([email protected]) for more information.

The deadline for registering for the event is Monday 9th January.
