The Big Five Ways Family Quiz

Saturday 27th March saw the first 'Big Five Ways Family Quiz'. The main motivation for the quiz was to provide a way for the wider Five Ways community to engage socially with both the school and each other during a time when live social events and entertainment are not possible. The idea came from a small but enthusiastic group of parents with children in Year 7 & 8 who have not yet had the opportunity to interact socially in school, due to the pandemic restrictions. Elizabeth Fox, Alumni Officer and Development Coordinator at King Edward VI Five Ways then approached Headteacher, Mrs Wilkinson, who was supportive of the idea, suggesting that Elizabeth should work with the school captains and Digital Media Expert, Mr Walker, to organise the event. "The School Captains have been brilliant from the outset with plenty of ideas and technical expertise" says Mrs Fox. The quiz took place on the evening of Saturday 27th at 7pm. "The format on this occasion was to be a pre-recorded broadcast via our YouTube channel (as we thought it would be the most reliable for a first outing) but the responses were captured in real time via our typeform answer sheets. The School Captains hosted the quiz with special guest appearances from Mrs Wilkinson and Charlotte Morris, a parent from the Friends Of Five Ways". During the quiz, donations were collected towards new Audio Visual equipment as part of a wider refurbishment project for the School Hall via a Just Giving page, with the original £1000 target having been exceeded! "There were also some great prizes on offer including Amazon vouchers and Easter eggs. It was a really fun evening and a great opportunity to engage with the wider Five Ways community". You can still access the quiz here and although answer forms are no longer being accepted, you are welcome to play for fun and test your knowledge of  the school, Birmingham, flags, sport and much more. There is also a musical performance from Emma, one of the school's very talented Year 13 students.
