As we come to the close of the 2024–25 academic year, we can reflect with pride on the achievements of the Foundation. From academic excellence to cultural celebration, our Foundation has continued to embody our values.
Throughout the year, I have had the privilege of visiting many of our schools, witnessing first-hand the energy and commitment of our students and staff. Whether in classrooms, on sports fields or in community spaces, the spirit of King Edward VI Foundation has been alive and thriving. Our schools have continued to deliver high-quality education while also nurturing the wider development of our young people through music, drama, sport, and service.
One of the most memorable moments of the year was our Foundation Awards evening. It was a pleasure to welcome guests from across Birmingham and beyond to celebrate the achievements of individuals and communities within our Foundation. As I shared in my speech that evening, the word “award” has its roots in the idea of watching closely and deciding thoughtfully. It reminds us that recognition is not given lightly; it is earned through effort, progress, and excellence. The evening was a powerful reminder of the transformative impact our schools have on young lives and of the shared values that bind us together.
This year, our schools have continued to develop. From national recognition in public speaking and academic performance, to creative campaigns raising awareness of social issues, our students have shown what it means to lead with purpose. Our African and Caribbean Society event brought together schools in a vibrant celebration of heritage and identity. Our involvement in initiatives like “Bulls in the City” and SOS Kit Aid reflected our commitment to creativity, civic pride and global citizenship.
These achievements are not isolated; they are the result of a collective effort. I want to thank our staff, governors and partners for their dedication. I am especially grateful to those who work behind the scenes to make events like the Foundation Awards possible.
As we look ahead, I hope everyone in our community finds time to rest and recharge. I wish you all a pleasant summer.
