On the 10th of October, 2024, staff and students across the King Edward VI Foundation came together to mark World Mental Health Day, a global event dedicated to raising awareness about mental health and well-being. This year, many of our schools proudly participated in Young Minds’ Hello Yellow campaign, encouraging everyone to wear yellow clothing and accessories as a symbol of support for young people's mental health.
The vibrant displays of yellow not only brightened our school environments, but also sparked important conversations about mental health. Throughout the day, activities and assemblies were organised to foster a sense of community and encourage open dialogue around mental well-being. From fun games to informative workshops, our students and staff engaged in meaningful discussions about the importance of mental health and how to support one another.
In addition to the festivities, staff, parents, and students were reminded of the mental health resources available within our Foundation. These resources aim to promote positive well-being and provide support for anyone who may be struggling. One notable resource is the Headspace app, which provides mindfulness and meditation tools designed to enhance mental well-being. This is free to all school staff, allowing them to prioritise their own mental health and well-being while supporting their students. Our commitment to mental health extends beyond just one day; we strive to create a caring environment where everyone feels safe to discuss their feelings and seek help when needed.
As part of our ongoing efforts, we encourage all members of our Foundation to prioritise their mental health and to look out for one another. Together, we can cultivate a supportive community that champions wellbeing and fosters resilience among our staff and students.
Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s Hello Yellow campaign! Let’s continue to advocate for mental health awareness and support one another throughout the year.
