King Edward VI Handsworth Wood Girls’ Academy

Handsworth Wood Girls’ Academy (HWGA) is a multi-ability, non-selective school that admits girls from the age of eleven to nineteen. The academy is diverse and reflects the local community in Handsworth.

Our ethos is based upon mutual respect and the girls engage in our excellent student welfare system, enabling them to believe that they can achieve success in all that they do here. We make every effort to ensure that each student achieves their “personal best” in all their examinations, from year 7 through to sixth form and beyond.

We are very proud of our excellent reputation in the local community, and of the quality of education we provide to our students. The girls work hard and we are really proud of their success, and we know that our girls appreciate all the help that their amazing teachers and their families give them.

Hard work is an expectation of all and we strive for continual improvements year-on-year by challenging our students and staff to excel. We want the girls to enjoy their time here and our environment offers them many academic and enrichment opportunities.

Our girls are fantastic young women who all have a very bright future.
