World Mental Health Day 2025

On the 10th of October, 2025, staff and students across the King Edward VI Foundation came together to mark World Mental Health Day, a global event dedicated to raising awareness about mental health and well-being. It was exciting to see our schools proudly advocating for inclusive and compassionate mental health care by participating in the Young Minds’ Hello Yellow campaign. Students and teachers wore yellow clothing and accessories to symbolise their support for young people's mental health.

This year's focus centred around two main themes: Mental health in catastrophes and emergencies, and prioritising our mental health in the workplace. Whether it is our young people, or our staff throughout our schools and the Foundation, promoting positive mental health and providing the support needed is incredibly important. The vibrant displays of yellow in our various schools not only sparked conversations around mental health, but also created room for activities and assemblies throughout the day that were organised to encourage an open dialogue around mental well-being with students and teachers. Students and staff also engaged in fun games and informative workshops that led to meaningful discussions about the importance of mental health and how we can all support one another.

At the King Edward VI Foundation we provide mental health resources for anyone who might be struggling, or is interested in learning more about mental health. These resources aim to promote positive well-being and provide helpful information for our staff, teachers, and parents too. One standout resource is the Headspace app, which provides mindfulness and meditation tools to help nurture  positive mental well-being. This app is free to all school staff, empowering them to care for their own mental health while continuing to support their students. Mental health is a journey, not a destination. This is why our commitment to providing support to our staff extends beyond just one day. We strive to fostering a caring, open environment where individuals feel safe to share their feelings and seek help when needed.

Prioritising mental health is essential. As a Foundation we encourage all of our members to take care with their mental well-being and to look out for one another. Together, we can build a strong and supportive culture that uplifts one another.

A big thank you to everyone who took part in this year’s Hello Yellow campaign! Let’s continue to speak out, advocate for mental health awareness and support one another throughout the year.
