This November, King Edward VI Aston embraced the spirit of Movember with enthusiasm and purpose. Staff and students across the school came together to raise awareness about men’s mental and physical health, while also raising an incredible £1,600 (and counting!) for the cause.
Year 13 students led the charge, delivering form assemblies to ensure every form understood the importance of Movember and its impact on positive health. Their leadership helped spark meaningful conversations throughout the school.
To keep the momentum going, Aston introduced Mo’ Mondays, a simple but powerful initiative where older students and the PFA served hot drinks and biscuits. These relaxed gatherings created a welcoming space for boys in all year groups to talk openly and connect.
Fundraising day was a real highlight, featuring a charity rugby match (in which the staff narrowly snuck a victory) and a bake sale. Cakes and biscuits, made by our talented Food Technology students as well as being generously donated by AIP Catering, were a huge hit and helped boost our fundraising total.
Beyond Aston, we reached out to our wider community. Visits to Handsworth Wood Girls' Academy, Handsworth School for Girls and Handsworth Grammar School for Boys allowed students to share the positive work happening here and exchange ideas for future collaboration. It was inspiring to see how schools can work together to make a lasting impact, as well as hearing about the incredible Movember campaign that Handsworth Wood Girls' Academy had also been running.
Thanks to everyone who grew a mo, baked a cake, served a drink, or simply joined the conversation. Your efforts have made a real difference, not just in raising funds, but in promoting awareness and support for men’s health.
