Job Description
The King Edward VI Foundation is a progressive charitable organisation which has supported excellence in education across the city of Birmingham since 1552. Our schools are diverse in nature but have a common purpose and commitment to achieving our mission of “making Birmingham the best place to be educated in the UK”.
The Foundation operates two of the best independent schools in the country, and in 2017 established The King Edward VI Academy Trust Birmingham (“the Academy Trust”), which currently consists of six selective and six nonselective academies.
Our recent expansion into a wider diversity of local communities is enabling us to accelerate our strategies for improving the life chances of young people in Birmingham, whatever their background. We are a values driven organisation, dedicated to making a difference.
The Foundation’s central team is responsible for ensuring the continued success of all schools in the group and provides a full range of services and specialist support and guidance.
We are looking to appoint a Risk and Policy Manager on a Maternity Cover basis on a 1-year Fixed-Term Contract to support the Foundation and Academy Trust. Some of the key responsibilities of this role are enhancing and embedding the Foundation and Academy Trust-wide Risk Assurance Framework, taking ownership of the organisation’s suite of policies, acting as a key link between the central Risk and Policy function and the schools across the Foundation and Academy Trust, and managing the internal controls environment.
The successfully appointed applicant will have experience of risk and policy management within an organisational setting as well as experience of planning and delivering against organisational objectives.
You will be joining a supportive and high achieving team and will be provided with opportunities for growth and professional development. We offer a generous annual leave entitlement, hybrid working options, free hot lunch during term time, and our office is located alongside the University of Birmingham campus.
As a central support service, our working model must be driven by the needs of our schools. Therefore, please be aware that staff are required to take the majority of annual leave during non-term time.
We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore, if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible
