Jodh Dhesi is Chief Executive Officer of the King Edward VI Foundation, Birmingham, accountable for the education of over 13,000 students in fourteen schools and the leadership of the Foundation Charity and Multi-Academy Trust.
Jodh has been involved in secondary education for his whole career, starting as a teacher in a grammar school and then spending fifteen years in leadership roles in comprehensive schools, culminating in becoming a National Leader of Education (NLE), Executive Board Member of a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) and Headteacher of an 11-18 IB World School which he led to an “outstanding” Ofsted rating. As an NLE, Jodh worked with the then Regional Schools Commissioner for the East of England and North-East London, leading training for Headteachers across Cambridgeshire and supporting other schools and MATs.
Moving to the United Arab Emirates, Jodh became responsible for the strategic planning, education, financial management, people management, enrolment, marketing and properties of over forty international schools in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Saudi Arabia for the world’s largest K-12 provider, working closely with government and regulatory agencies.
As well as being CEO of the Foundation and Academy Trust, Jodh is a School Improvement Partner for the Arthur Terry Learning Partnership, a member of the North Birmingham Schools Teaching School Hub Teacher Development Strategy Board, a member of the Birmingham Education Partnership MAT CEO Steering Group, a member of the Birmingham Post-16 Strategic Executive Board, a Visiting Fellow delivering the Ambition Institute National Professional Qualification for Headship and a Guest Lecturer at the University of Birmingham. He is currently a Commissioner for the Civitas Commission into the future of independent education and supports other school through the DfE’s Trust and School Improvement Offer.
Jodh is a Trustee of the School Partnerships Alliance and Trustee Designate for the Aston University Mathematics School. He is also an Associate Member of the West Midlands Reserves Forces and Cadets Association.
